A Piece of Clothing!!!

A huge share of my childhood body-shaming was from the so called huge textile brands.

Every shopping trip had always been dreaded for a quite plum girl like me. Though you get to buy new outfits the turmoil you are put through is not as joyous.

These famous shops in a B town like mine never had all the outfits in all sizes and suddenly when you or your parents fall in love with an outfit and it doesn't fit you, I think the rest doesn't need much explanation. Rest assured, almost every child in a typical Indian Household would have experienced their fair share of Body-shaming one or the other way.

Though, parents and the society play a major role in these comments, the need to adapt yourself to the available limited sizes of outfits did considerable damage.

Not to say trying modern outfits were a nightmare to any curvy person.

The arrival of Franchised showrooms like Reliance Trends, Max, Pantaloons etc subserviently brought little peace.

The visit to these stores made you feel better since almost every piece of clothing was available in all sizes.

I know things have gradually changed in all the stores but I still remember the relief I felt when I first visited these stores in my city.

Wow, I could wear the exact same outfit just like a slim person can

Though the society holds on to the stigma of who are to wear a particular clothing, we have grown up to break these structures and I was being motivated by these stores largely.

I know we are a long way behind in catering to every person's needs but this is a progress to look forward....

I remember something a popular Indian Female Actor said," An outfit is something that should fit you,not vice versa".

Hold on to this thought and don't Let anyone have a Say on your choices.

Let's talk! Let's Break !

  1. Travel Broadens mind

It would be great if you add something unique ,you might have experienced in their culture which is lacking in our culture/way of living. I felt like globalisation makes everthing one and same across cultures
